Lively exchanges – spontaneous job interviews

The SIEGENIA trainers and trainees were on hand to answer the questions of prospective school leavers last Saturday, giving them support on their way to their professional future. At "Apprenticeship Day", the Siegerland producer of solutions for modern window, door and comfort systems offered a lively programme in their training centre in Wilnsdorf-Niederdielfen, including general information about the company, overviews of the apprenticeship professions as well as tips and tricks for job applications. This was well received by potential junior employees. "We conducted diverse qualified conversations with promising results – extending to spontaneous job interviews", reported Nina Herter from Human Resources.

Getting prepared - theoretically and practically

Supplementary to the the factory tours, which gave a feel for the production facilities, the trainers and trainees gave presentations with information about the individual job roles. The young people looking at a technical apprenticeship profession had their interest piqued. They were able to create their own work piece, in the form of a keyring, in the training centre. In addition, the prospective school leavers were intensively prepared for the application process. From creating a presentation about themselves to acceptable behaviour during a job interview, they received all kinds of useful advice and were able to demonstrate their newly acquired skills. There was also ample opportunity for informal interactions with the employees.

Nina Herter rated the interest in the apprenticeship professions at SIEGENIA as encouragingly high: "We have already invited several participants to a recruitment test following this event and conducted a real job interview with a young woman on the spot. The fact that we treated our guests individually doubtlessly contributed to the success of the event. For example, a young lady interested in the warehouse logistics division had a lot of fun with a drive on a fork lift truck."

The job roles for which SIEGENIA trains include technical product designer, tool mechanic, mechatronics technician as well as machine and plant operator.
