From pitch to professional life: SIEGENIA welcomes local football team Sportfreunde Siegen
SIEGENIA sees record attendance at its health weeks
Registrations at this year's SIEGENIA GROUP Health Weeks from 11 to 22 November reached a record 1,274. A total of 423 employees took advantage of this year's programme, with many of them attending several events. Project manager Annette Schumann is delighted with the overwhelming response: ‘The health of our employees is something we care deeply about. These health weeks have become something of a tradition at SIEGENIA. We started with online-only programmes in 2021 during the coronavirus pandemic and are now in our fourth year. Never before have we had so many people registering and taking part!’
During the health weeks, SIEGENIA invites employees from all its German sites to improve their physical and mental wellbeing. Once again, SIEGENIA organised a little extra incentive to encourage employees to take part, with all participants being given a SIEGENIA water bottle as a token of thanks.
Old favourites and sought-after new additions
A varied mix of online and on-site events awaited employees at the headquarters in Wilnsdorf-Niederdielfen. Following on from last year's health checks, which proved an instant success and booked up in no time, the company teamed up with statutory health insurance provider AOK to offer free a thyroid screening, hearing test and stroke check. The road accident simulation, which SIEGENIA ran for the first time in collaboration with German automobile club ADAC, was also very well received. This was complemented by an extensive programme aimed at improving fitness and mobility, ranging from a running club to back pain prevention and yoga classes. SIEGENIA's new steps challenge ‘Step by Step’ got employees moving – and not just those with mainly sedentary jobs. The aim of the team competition was to record the most steps within two weeks – and win the new SIEGENIA hoodies. The result was impressive: in total, those taking part managed to clock up more than 10 million steps, covering over 7,400 kilometres.
There was also a very positive response to the digital information events on a range of health topics and to the promotional campaigns in the staff canteen, where special menus and other initiatives highlighted the importance of a healthy diet, with a focus on vegetables. And for the second time, SIEGENIA employees were also given the opportunity to take part in an evening session live-streamed from the canteen, during which they were shown how to prepare a tasty, healthy meal.
Keynote speech by local team Sportfreunde a major highlight for trainees
Two new highlights of the health weeks, which SIEGENIA had organised with the next generation in mind, were met with great enthusiasm from the company's trainees. A mobile escape room, set up in collaboration with health insurer AOK, provided an entertaining opportunity to learn valuable information about back health. There was also a high turnout for the keynote speech ‘From pitch to professional life: motivation and discipline – what trainees can learn from football’. SIEGENIA was able to enlist the services of Thorsten Nehrbauer, manager at Sportfreunde Siegen, assistant manager Sergen Yesilcay and CEO Matthias Georg for the talk. Trainees at the Hermeskeil and Velbert sites also seized the opportunity to attend.
A sweeping success
Thanks to the winning combination of trusted favourites and fresh ideas, the health weeks proved to be a huge success. Once again, the feedback from participants was resoundingly positive, and staff at SIEGENIA are already looking forward to taking part again next year.
